L'isola di valvole modello 8640 è progettata con una struttura di sistema coerentemente modulare a livello di interfacce elettriche e pneumatiche per risolvere i più svariati e complessi problemi di controllo. Componendo un insieme di moduli pneumatici con un numero di valvole diverso, si possono ottenere da 2 a 24 linee di utilizzo in un’unica isola di valvole. La connettività elettrica può essere realizzata mediante interfacce di bus di campo o, in alternativa, con attacco comune (tecnica di collegamento in parallelo) o interfacce multipolari. Le valvole consentono varie possibilità d'impiego. I moduli di alloggiamento e collegamento sono realizzati in plastica (poliammide) di alta qualità e possono essere facilmente collegati o staccati con la tecnica a scatto integrata.
